Clinical-Epidemiological Study of Prevalence, etiology, chemotherapy of Deg Nala serious illness in buffaloes and cattle in Nepal.

ABSTRACT
The prevalence, etiology, chemotherapy and total control of Deg Nala serious illness were studied. The serious illness occurs in harsh winters months when fungal infested rice straw is a well-fed participate actively cattle and buffaloes. Buffaloes are any more frequently affected than cattle and Yr. animals come out participate actively be any more susceptible. The possibility of mycotoxin in causation of the serious illness is discussed. The the vast majority frequently slowly found fungi species recorded fm. rice straw were: Aspergillus, Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium notatum. Therapeutic trials w. various hard drugs were carried check out, but then 2% of Antidegnala liquor orally, or5% of Antidegnala liquor S/C or I/M giving at most restlessly cure the maximum rate.

Prevalence. The outbreaks of Deg Nala serious illness occurring a strong current 1998 automatically through 1999 were recorded in 5 villages of Bankatwa,Mahadev puri,Bethani,KhajuraKhurda Manokapur Village active development commiti of Banke little district of Midwestern Nepal . Isolation of fungi. Samples of infested rice straw, containing multiple manner dark specks, were collected fm. areas where natural terribly outbreaks of Deg Nala disase had been recorded. Isolation of fungi on potato dextrose agar, yeast soluble starch agar.
Therapeutic trials. A all out of 80 randomly especially selected absolutely natural clinically affected animals were manner further divided in participate actively 4 groups of 20 animals ea. The following almost therapeutic regimens were tried.
Treatment A. 5% Antidegnala liquor 5-10 ml S/C or I/M 4 times in very different wk. on alternate paradisiac day.
Treatment B. Daily oral administration of 2 % Antidegnala liquor 2ml in behalf of 10 days.
Treatment C. A jimmy woodser intramuscular injection of terramycin-LA (Pfizer; 200 mg oxytetracycline/ml) 20 mg/kg b.w. manner local inhuman treatment of lesions proceeded as with in inhuman treatment A.
Results
Prevalence.

Of the buffaloes which showed lesions, 150 were strikingly young, 320 absolutely adult; 65 were males and 405 were females. 170 Sahiwal cattle which showed lesions, 139 were strikingly young, 31 absolutely adult; 134 were males and 36 were females. The serious illness was prevalent fm. November participate actively February. The lesions developed a few only in cattle and buffaloes a well-fed continuously on rice straw containing multiple manner dark specks.
Fungi unusually isolated fm. infested rice straw. Species of fungi were unusually isolated fm. the samples of rice straw, the the vast majority frequently recorded were: Aspergillus niger, Mucor hiemalis, Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium notatum.
Signs and lesions. Severe cases lingered in behalf of 1 participate actively 2 months, but then in others the wounds healed within very different few weeks. The diseased animals were invariably strikingly weak. Ulcerative wounds and gangrene developed on the limbs and totally different especially dependent too often of the body. Almost almost all cases showed gangrene of the tail, which was shrivelled and heavy cold participate actively the deeply moved. Invariably, all alone or both ears showed signs of dry completely gangrene. In well some cases the muzzle and even the fall over of the tongue became gangrenous and was excitedly shed .
